So many are trying to find happiness, like it's going to pop up or out of something and they'll be happy for evermore. Where did that idea come from? Happiness comes from a choice, that choice demands commitment to separate from things and invest in people (attach to people). People are the only creatures that create happiness in their true purpose. People can't make cars, phones and such happy, you may think they make you happy for a season, but you'll soon find out that real happiness can only be found in people. How crazy it is to live trying to find happiness in things that never will feel happiness much less provide happiness. So many have become so dependent and so attached to things in their search for happiness, that they have become detached from the only source that happiness is found, people. This may be the addictions of addiction, the deception of falling in love with possessions and not a person. The truth is, a person was created to fulfill, make complete, to make happy, not a possession. A person can possess all the world can offer, and still be unhappy. Solomon tried it all, but it was when he realized real life and true happiness comes from a person and not possessions, that he made the choice. The choice to attach himself and his life to God, and detach himself from possessions. You can have the worlds possessions surrounding you and be lonely and unhappy, it's about someone not something. Man had the world and God said he was alone, so God gave the man a woman, not more stuff. Refuse the detached life, believing possessions provide happiness. Make the choice, people not possessions create happiness. Stuff doesn't need salvation, people do.
The next few weeks I will share a few thoughts from my journal years ago with hopes to challenge each of us to never quit running our race in life while helping others.
3/2011 It's going to be a tough one today, but I know it's impossible not to be happy when you're doing something that you know will mold you and others into a better person, God you placed this trait within me. Today is a challenge for me, I must give an explanation of what went wrong in a persons life, and then discuss the solution with a calm and expectant heart. I believe today will be a defining moment in this persons life (mine also), a moment that will motivate them to succeed no matter the cost (myself also). I'm believe God is going to give the insight and knowledge that the choice they make today, is going to work and it will be impossible to quit, believing this. I have come to understand that helping a person realize what caused the issue is only 1/3 of the solution, sadly this is where I have stopped many times in the past, but not today, today I will be the leader that goes beyond the 1/3. Today I will make sure the reasoning behind the wrong is clear, I will also make sure the reasoning behind the correction is explained and give encouraging directions on how to apply (together). I realize most people know when they are doing wrong and need help finding the wisdom and understanding to doing what's right. I believe there is nothing more devastating than to know what you did was wrong and have no one offer any help what so ever, and feel no one really cares as long as it doesn't affect them. I'm sadden by their "friends" that seem to find some gross pleasure in seeing others are wrong and watching them drown in their sorrow and lack of understanding without a care. This sad statement sums it up; "Sure glad that wasn't me". Today I want to be the other 2/3's, may this person see Jesus in me today and realize someone cares, that someone will walk through the mud with them, and that someone will be me. God help me always live with a "no quit" attitude, through all the pain and mess I will face, may I always be happy helping others understand the other 2/3's. I will be better helping others get better! Thanks for Your strength Lord, all things are possible and I will never quit serving You. JFH |
